Maui is the Hawaiian Island that is connected to the Heart and Throat Chakras. These two energy centers are key in manifesting (bringing our desires, wishes, and intentions into our reality) in that our dreams originate in our heart and then we communicate about them to the Universe. My intention for being in Maui was to set aside time to work on writing my Reiki teaching manual, and then attend the Hay House Writer’s Workshop to learn how to bring my message about Reiki into the world. Read on to hear about my enlightening experiences!
For the last two years, I have felt the pull to spend time alone writing in Hawaii. It never felt like the “right” time until a few months ago when I became aware of the Writer’s Workshop in Maui. My family and I already had plans to visit Kauai, and it just so happen that the workshop fell on the next weekend. In my soul, I felt that this was my chance to spend some quality alone time with my Reiki teaching manual. So, I honored this tug on my heart strings and changed my flights.
I spent the days leading up to the workshop in a quaint cottage in the town of Kula, which is just at the base of the Haleakala Crater. It is said that the crater is the Heart Chakra of the planet. The place on Earth that connects us to Divine Love. The power of this energy was felt in my entire being as my writing seemed to pour out of my heart and onto my laptop.
These five days of writing, yoga, meditation, and rest were followed by moving to the West Side of Maui in Ka’anapali for the writer’s worksop. I definitely felt the shift in energy from my quiet, peaceful, and isolated cottage to the crowded resort side of the island! This shift was neither good or bad, it was just different.
After those days of quiet and solitude, I started preparing myself for the workshop by using affirmations. My ‘go to’ affirmations were, “It is safe for me to be seen,” and “I clearly and lovingly share my gifts with everyone I meet.” I think these affirmations ‘worked’ in that they aligned me with those energies, enabling me to meet the president of Hay House, Reid Tracy, and one of Hay House’s best selling authors Doreen Virtue. Doreen even said to me, “Wow! You’re glowing! Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it. Keep teaching and keep shining!” I plan on it Doreen!
This trip was a success in that I learned SO much about traditional and self publishing, and what it takes to not only get your book our there, but to get people to actually read it! I cannot wait to share my words and experiences of Reiki with you in the near future. Stay tuned!
