This past Sunday, I had the privilege of spending a whole day with a teacher who changed my life. His name is Dr. Brian L Weiss, and he is the author of multiple books on Past Life Regression Therapy. His first and most well known book, Many Lives, Many Masters was the first book I read that helped me understand the true nature of my soul. When I read his words, I felt truth. His work shifted not just my perspective, but has also deeply affected the lives of many of my clients: most memorably Steven.
Steven came to me for Reiki when he was going through depression. He had tried traditional therapy, but nothing seemed to be working. Through our sessions, he started to feel some relief, and I was happy with our progress. Then, one day before I was leaving for a long trip, Steven confessed that he had been having suicidal thoughts and had purchased a rope. My heart immediately sank as he is such a beautiful soul, so as I was holding space for him that day I asked the Universe, Reiki, and his guides to show me what could be done to help him while I was gone. I was guided to share Many Lives, Many Masters with him. I left for my trip feeling confident that Steven would be ok, and I continued to send Reiki to him while I was gone. Upon returning, I met with Steven and he shared with me that he had never read a book so fast and that he had disposed of his rope. He mentioned not wanting to have to go through this pain again in a future lifetime, and was even more committed to doing whatever it took to heal his life.
Stories like Steven’s are not uncommon in mine and Dr. Brian L Weiss‘ line of work. We must acknowledge that we are on Earth to learn lessons, and sometimes they challenge us. And so, in attending Dr. Weiss’ day long workshop, I was curious to see what would come up for me to address.
The day started with Dr. Weiss giving a talk about his hypnosis work, and then he led us in our first group past life regression. Now, we are not talking the kind of hypnosis that is depicted in the movies. Dr. Weiss explained to us that hypnosis is really just focused concentration, and that we are in control the entire time. You can come out of the hypnosis whenever you choose. My experience in this regression took me from a few childhood memories, to in utero, and then to one of my past lives in Greece. In my past life, I saw myself, the clothes I was wearing, the location, and felt the feeling of light animating my being. It was similar to what I feel now when I do Reiki, and I seemed to have the same effect on people in that life time as I do in this. I fast forwarded to my death in that lifetime. I had died at a young age with many people around. What I took from this regression is that I influenced the lives of many. It was beautiful and powerful to experience this with such clarity, and was a true testament to the fact that we are infinite beings inhabiting a body for a short amount of time.
The rest of the day with Dr. Weiss was filled with intuitive exercises, healing meditations, and another past life regression group meditation. Some things that came up for me were my relationship with my father, and what was needed to heal some lower back pain I was experiencing. These experiences were powerful, and to write about them here would make this post a small novel!
My heart was overwhelmed with gratitude in sharing space with him and so many other conscious people that attended this workshop (over 1,000 people!). At the end of the day, I was privileged to have my copy of Many Lives, Many Masters signed with love by Dr. Weiss. We took our picture together and exchanged words of gratitude. He was grateful for my attendance that day, and I was grateful for his soulful work. It was an acknowledgement that leaves a last impression on my soul, and I look forward to working with him in the future at his 5 day workshops in New York!
